Into the Light

A time of darkness, is almost done

For you and me, and everyone

The days grow longer

We’re getting stronger

And into the light, we gladly run

Into the Light

Roll Up, Roll Up

Roll up your sleeve, yes that’s fine

A quick sharp jab, it took no time

I slept like a log

Not a drop a grog

Feeling much better, what a good sign

A quick jab..

The White Lady

She stands steadfast, a classic trope

Shining snow white, a beacon of hope

Against sea and storm

As gusts ‘round her swarm

Facing whatever, she’ll always cope

The Same Old Story

It’s the same old story, as Rory G* once sang

Over everything now, Covid clouds do hang

The days are numbing

But brighter ones coming

Back to us soon, like a timely boomerang

Coming our way…

*Rory Gallagher, guitarist (2 Mar 1948 – 14 June 1995)

Look Up

I wandered slowly, beneath the cloud

People strolling, their heads unbowed

Dogs run and dash

Loud, happy splash

Resolve is strong, clear and avowed

Walk on…

Field of No Play

Only seagulls playing, on the field today

No children shouting, ‘Pass this way’

Silence hangs like a cloak

In this invisible yoke

But keep the faith, it’ll soon be OK

No play today…

Dedicated to players everywhere

P ram-rocking talkers

The Program

Uncertainty rules, there’s no doubt

Covid’s still creeping, around and about

Mask-up where you go

This is not for show

Stay with the program, do not flout

Keep your distance…for now

The Silence Returns

Ten months later, the silence is back

The Covid demon, it will not slack

Do the right thing

That’s how we win

Work hard people, let’s beat this attack

Bloom perfume …it’s coming
